Ever since its inception in 2003, independent Swiss watchmaking house Jean Dunand has never failed to wow horlogerie aficionados with its intricate movements and visually sublime designs. Inspired by the Art Nouveau/Deco era, Palace (above) inspires adventure and romance. A flying tourbillon beats at the heart of the timepiece, while the two oval-shaped tracks are reminiscent of the legendary Milwaukee Mile racing circuit. On the right, a 72-hour power reserve indicator mirrors the GMT. The visible bridges and wheels are at once evocative of the Industrial Revolution and Chaplin’s Modern Times. The vintage motif is further extended to the unique winding mechanism, which communicates its power to the barrel via a tiny chain with minuscule tensioner.
