If you're looking for a steal on a fancy watch or a cool car, check out auction sites used by a growing number of Texas cities and police departments marketing stolen or surplus merchandise. The Seabrook Police Department recently joined nearly 3,000 police departments and municipalities nationwide offering goods acquired in criminal investigations via propertyroom.com . The site lists a bonanza of bling from watches, jewelry and coins to computers, power tools and vehicles. After being picked up from participating departments, the items are pooled into a common inventory and then posted on the website under the appropriate category. Bidding on most items starts at $1. Unusual listings have included two eight-person bikes, a coffin and an X-ray machine. Stolen items are listed for auction only after the department in question has exhausted all means of finding the original...
