Get your skates on! The best outdoor ice rinks open this winter

This winter, the south end of Hyde Park will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland. The Christmas Markets will have more than 100 stalls full of potential stocking-fillers, Father Christmas will be in attendance for children, and if you want great views of London by night, then hop aboard the giant observation wheel. But the centrepiece is the charming ice rink around the Victorian bandstand. Once dark, the rink will be lit with thousands of lights, accompanied by a suitably cheesy Christmas soundtrack to get you in the festive mood. Once you've had enough skating, there are various cafés and bars to put your feet up in; we love the Carousel Bar, which revolves as you sip mulled wine. And keep your eyes peeled for celebrity skaters: Kate Moss and Chris Martin are said to be fans.
