Beer in the Dominican Republic

The beer that has come to represent the Dominican Republic, home and abroad, more than any other is the iconic Presidente Beer. For over 70 years this beer has been the choice of the people of the Dominican Republic and a source of great pride. It is strange that a beer can elicit this much emotion, but it does. Just uttering the term “Una Fria” (a cold one) is all one needs to say to get a bottle of this beer. Even when Dominicans move abroad, there is only one beer that they actively search out. Perhaps because it reminds them so much of home.
