Canadian Government Accidentally Buys Ad Space On The Pirate Bay - San Francisco Luxury News

The Department of Finance Canada accidentally began running advertisements this week on The Pirate Bay, a file-sharing site with a long history of legal trouble because of its hosting of copyright-infringing BitTorrents. The ads for Canada’s new Economic Action Plan, or EAP, started appearing on the site alongside ads for services helping users “Find a Chinese Bride.” The ads were quickly pulled from The Pirate Bay, and the Canadian government is looking into the situation. Of course, the Canadian finance department didn’t intentionally seek out ad space on a BitTorrent website. So how did it get there? According to an email conversation reproduced by the Ottawa Citizen , the agency hired Yahoo and three other advertising networks to seek ad space on popular websites.
