As Good as it Gets by Jamie Gwen | Riviera Orange County magazine | September 28, 2012 What’s that Sade song we all used to sing? “Never as Good as the First Time”? Well, she was wrong. Sometimes it’s better. I love a restaurant that doesn’t rest on its laurels—one that aspires to achieve more, makes its signature dish taste better, creates a polenta offering in a tiny bowl that leaves me begging for another bite. Now that’s accomplishment. Things have been in flux of late at The St. Regis Monarch Beach’s Stonehill Tavern, but restaurateur and chef Michael Mina’s SoCal establishment is still going strong. The menu has seen a few revisions, which were welcomed by me (and other foodies, I’m sure) with open arms.
