LVMH Keen on India Fashion Names

L Capital Asia, the private equity arm of LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton), is reportedly in talks with top local designers to group them all under a single umbrella, according to The Economic Times . In practice this would establish relationships between Indian fashion giants not unlike those between LVMH-owned brands such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Fendi. Press reports suggest that designers Rohit Bal and Sabyasachi Mukherjee are amongst the parties involved. L Capital Asia already has stakes in ethnic-wear chain FabIndia and retailer Genesis Luxury Fashion. In other L Capital related developments, the US$635 million dollar fund was recently in the news for taking a 50% stake in Australian F&B outfit Jones the Grocer.
