Q&A: Should I ask for my money back if I don't see enough animals on safari?

As a tour operator specialising in Africa I'm in a similar boat to Giles; not quite 'bored with the Big 5' but certainly as excited by things first-timers might not be interested in. I have however travelled with my own family on their first trips to Africa, so know the pressure that showing the things they expect to see brings, and I think there's a number of answers: 1. Go to the right places for classic African wildlife; Giles has mentioned them above and if you go at the right time of year (generally the dry seasons) you ought to see the big game you're hoping for. 2. Go to a camp with the best guides; they'll make or break your safari as a great guide will give you a better chance of being in the right place at the right time and keep you entertained and informed even when luck is against you.
