Local, organic, seasonal: Grassroots Pantry has all the buzzwords, but how's the food?

has received quite a few emails over the past few years, asking us to do a round-up of the best organic restaurants in town. And the simple reason that we have not done so is that while a large number of restaurants in town do use organic vegetables and produce, there are not many that do so exclusively. We have heard, however, of a new vegetarian café in Sai Ying Pun that may just fill that void. Grassroots Pantry, a two-story café, officially opened on June 26, and it is a vegetarian restaurant that sources seasonal ingredients from local organic farms and producers. The menu itself is international, featuring everything from Indian salads, Thai curries, Japanese brown rice bowls and French pastries.
