The world’s biggest art fair branches out into Asia

Hong Kong's thriving art scene will get another boost next year, when the world's premier modern and contemporary art show, Art Basel , announces its first edition in Asia. The show will replace the existing Hong Kong International Art Fair, Asia's current leading art fair. The Hong Kong event will adapt a similar format to its predecessors in Switzerland - where it was founded in 1970 - and Miami Beach, exhibiting contemporary and modern works by artists from all over the world, with more than half the galleries represented from the home region. And, as with the other shows, visitors can expect a distinctly different experience - something characteristic of and unique to the area - this time, Asia and the East. Art Basel Hong Kong will showcase paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, installations and multi-media projects of the highest quality from more than 250 ga...
