Oregon’s Southern Coast Scores a New Par 3

Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, known for its Scottish-like primeval grassy dunes, opens a new par-3 course, Bandon Preserve, on May 1. The 13-hole course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw—the same architects that designed Bandon Trails—is the resort’s fifth golf course and follows the 2010 opening of the 18-hole Old Macdonald, which won Robb Report ’s Best of the Best title last year. Adjacent to the first tee at Bandon Trails and across the ravine from Bandon Dunes, the new Bandon Preserve offers boundless views of the rugged Oregon coast and the Pacific Ocean from every hole. As part of the resort’s ongoing effort to support the surrounding habitat, all net proceeds from Bandon Preserve will benefit the Wild Rivers Coast Alliance and will help protect the silvery phacelia, an endangered plant native to the coastal sand dunes.
