Light it up: Florian Dussopt's Electromagnetic Table

Light it up: Florian Dussopt's Electromagnetic Table

While regular old tables are perfectly fine and functional, there comes a point when you wish your table did a bit more than just hold stuff. The EM Table is no average, run-of-the-mill table - it can light up fluorescent tubes within close proximity. Sounds like magic, right? Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is actually an electromagnetic field that allows the tubes to light up. London-based designer Florian Dussopt is inspired by physics and it is easy to see how they have played a role in this complex creation. The EM Table contains an electronic circuit set in the table. The low current is turned into an electromagnetic field, which can light up fluorescent tubes that are very close to it by acting on the gas inside the fluorescent tube. Don't believe us? See the video below for more on how the table works.
