The New Museum, which champions contemporary art: 'Is the Meatpacking District in danger of becoming too glamorous perhaps, a movie set rather than a neighbourhood scene? Maybe the Wall Street meltdown will see a downtown return to its bohemian roots. The city has agreed to subsidise a number of meatpacking plants adjacent to The Standard, so ensuring their survival.
